For this management consultant, leadership begins not with authority—but with alignment.
Jefrri-Ann Francesca Santiago, Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) describes her leadership style as co-creative, grounded in clarity, courage, care, and consistency—the foundational pillars of her consulting practice. “I believe leadership is not about authority; it is about influence, alignment, empowerment, and accountability,” she said.
In consulting engagements, this philosophy shapes how she works with leaders and teams. “This translates to guiding clients with empathy and precision, ensuring every decision is grounded in data, informed by insight, and aligned with strategic direction,” she explained.
One of the recurring challenges she faces is managing competing expectations. “A recurring challenge is balancing diverse stakeholder expectations—some leaders want quick wins, while meaningful culture shifts require time.”
Rather than forcing solutions, she relies on structure and transparency. “I address this through clear communication, milestone-based delivery, and alignment sessions that keep stakeholders informed, engaged, and accountable,” she shared. These practices, she noted, protect momentum without compromising realism.
A project that reinforced this leadership approach involved a growing organization undergoing change mid-engagement. “In one engagement, I supported a growing organization by redesigning its HR structure and employee-experience roadmap,” she recalled.
Halfway through the project, leadership transitions created instability. “Through a strategic clarity session, I realigned the leadership team around a shared vision and empowered new leaders to assume ownership,” she said. The outcome was tangible: “The result was improved stability, engagement, and retention.”
The experience reaffirmed her core principles. “This reinforced the value of clarity, consistency, care, and courage—especially in having uncomfortable or difficult conversations.”
For aspiring consultants, Santiago is candid about what the role truly requires. “Consulting is 50% expertise and 50% relationships,” she said. “Be confident in your craft but humble enough to listen.”
She emphasizes the importance of designing solutions that outlast the engagement. “Define expectations early, communicate clearly, and celebrate small wins,” she advised. “And most importantly, design solutions that can scale even after the engagement ends.”
Balancing technical expertise with people leadership is central to her practice. “Technical expertise provides the structure—data reveals patterns, trends, and root causes that guide strategic decisions,” she explained. “But data alone cannot drive change.”
Empathy, she believes, bridges that gap. “Empathy brings the context behind the numbers, allowing me to understand motivations, resistance, and the human factors that influence execution.”
This philosophy influenced her decision to pursue the Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) designation. “I wanted to elevate my management consulting practice to global standards,” she said. “The CMC designation represents credibility, competence, and commitment to excellence.”
Preparation for certification was reflective as much as technical. “I approached the process methodically: reviewing case studies, reflecting on my professional journey, and aligning my consulting approach with global standards.”
Since earning the credential, she has seen its impact firsthand. “The credential validated that I was on the right path and opened doors to deeper client trust, stronger partnerships, and collaborations built on shared standards of excellence,” she shared.
Clients now recognize the designation as a mark of rigor. “Clients view the CMC as a mark of rigor, ethics, and international standards—positioning Strategence Consulting not just as a service provider, but as a trusted strategic partner.”
For consultants considering the same path, her message is intentional. “Pursue it not just for the designation, but for the discipline it cultivates,” she said. “It is an investment in your growth and a commitment to serve clients with integrity and excellence.”
