In the world of financial education, your title doesn’t guarantee your success—your mindset does. That’s a lesson Zorayda “Dada” Rosanes, Associate Financial Planner and Executive Vice Chairman of International Marketing Group (IMG), has seen proven time and again throughout her career.
“You may be smart in your field outside IMG—like doctor, engineer, accountant,” Rosanes told Financial Adviser PH. “But IMG is a different ballgame. You have to listen to your mentor on how you will run the IMG system.”
For Rosanes, coachability—the ability to learn, stay humble, and remain open to guidance—is more valuable than any diploma. “It doesn’t matter if your mentor was not able to finish college or is working as a street sweeper or house manager,” she explained. “That person became successful because he or she was able to run the IMG system.”
To drive the point home, Dada shared a metaphor that reshaped her thinking: “It is like in yoga—I thought strength is more important, but it is actually flexibility. Sa IMG, it is coachability.”
This philosophy runs deep in IMG’s culture. While many high achievers are used to leading with credentials and experience, Rosanes emphasizes that in financial education, humility is the ultimate asset. You have to be willing to unlearn, relearn, and follow systems that have already created results for others.
Coachability, she adds, isn’t about passively following orders. It’s about staying hungry for knowledge, committing to growth, and being open to feedback—even when it challenges your comfort zone. “Growth begins with the humility to recognize that there’s always more to learn,” she said.
In an era where credentials often dominate conversations around success, Dada Rosanes offers a refreshing perspective: what matters more is your ability to adapt, absorb, and apply.
Her journey is proof that in the business of helping others build a better financial future, the smartest people are not always the most successful—the most coachable ones are.
