In the fast-paced world of human resources, the best leaders never stop learning. For Frances Opulencia Bongolan, a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP), professional growth wasn’t just about climbing the ladder—it was about building a deeper foundation so she could bring others along with her.
“CHRP sharpened my strategic thinking and boosted my confidence when leading HR initiatives,” Frances shared with Financial Adviser PH. “It gave me a solid framework that I could apply directly to my work.”
At the time she pursued certification, Frances was already experienced in HR. But she recognized that the demands of the profession were evolving—requiring not just operational know-how, but a strategic mindset grounded in data, systems, and leadership.
“I wanted to keep learning, and CHRP was a natural next step,” she said. “It wasn’t about chasing a title—it was about becoming better at what I do every day.”
That mindset proved to be transformative. Although no new role opened up immediately after certification, the credibility and structure CHRP gave her significantly impacted how others saw her—and how she saw herself.
“The certification helped strengthen my profile and my presence in the workplace,” she explained. “Over time, that credibility contributed to career advancement. Colleagues began to see me as a capable leader who could drive real results.”
Frances began leading organizational change efforts and aligning HR goals with broader business objectives. She found herself confidently presenting policies, streamlining systems, and taking on more visible roles in strategic planning conversations.
“CHRP gave me practical tools and a big-picture perspective,” she said. “It helped me bridge daily HR operations with long-term business strategy—from workforce planning to employee engagement.”
What started as a personal commitment to self-improvement evolved into something bigger: mentorship. As newer HR professionals entered the field, Frances became a source of guidance and inspiration.
“Now I find myself mentoring others, sharing what I’ve learned, and encouraging them to keep growing too,” she said. “It’s incredibly fulfilling to see the next generation of HR professionals step up with confidence—and to know I played a small part in that.”
Beyond technical skills, Frances credits CHRP for giving her a values-based approach that guides her leadership daily.
“Whether it’s crafting policies, managing performance systems, or developing training modules, I apply CHRP principles by aligning HR practices with business goals and ethical standards,” she said.
She also found lasting value in the CHRP community, which provided access to peer support, industry updates, and a shared commitment to elevating the HR profession.
“Being part of the CHRP network gave me access to learning materials, peer discussions, and a community of professionals who share the same values and challenges,” she explained. “It’s a space for continuous learning and motivation.”
Now, as she reflects on her journey, Frances sees certification not just as a credential—but as a catalyst.
“CHRP didn’t just validate my knowledge—it changed how I think, how I lead, and how I help others rise,” she said. “If you want to grow in HR, not just in your role but in your purpose, this is the path.”
