For many professionals, the journey to meaningful work doesn’t follow a straight line. Jun Roy, Certified Management Consultant and CEO of the Regenerative Transformation Institute, is one such example. Though he began with a degree in Accountancy, Roy found his deeper purpose not in numbers—but in people.
His first glimpse of that purpose came during college. At the University of Luzon, he wasn’t just studying for exams—he was already stepping into leadership roles, serving as President of the Supreme Student Council and Vice President of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants.
“Those roles introduced me to the power of purpose-driven leadership,” Roy told Financial Adviser. But the moment that truly shifted his mindset came when he was selected as a delegate to the YMCA Rizal Youth Leadership Training Institute—a 25-day live-in program focused on building young leaders. “That’s where I realized: while I had the skills of an accountant, my passion was always about developing people and shaping organizations,” he shared.
Instead of taking the traditional CPA route, Roy pivoted. He started his career in human resources as a Sales Trainer at PET Plans, one of the country’s leading pre-need insurance companies in the ’90s. It was his first real taste of helping people grow professionally—and he was hooked.
From there, he made intentional moves across departments that others might consider unrelated: Sales, Risk, Quality, Performance, Strategy. “Each move was a stretch. Each role was a recalibration,” he said. “But all of them deepened my understanding of how organizations and people thrive together.”
In 2020, Roy joined Nomura Research Institute as Head of OD Consulting. The global role exposed him to large-scale transformation projects and sharpened his belief in blending strategic thinking with human-centered leadership. “Transformation has to be more than frameworks—it has to be personal, cultural, and sustainable,” he explained.
In 2024, Roy took the leap and founded the Regenerative Transformation Institute—a platform that helps leaders and companies go beyond traditional consulting and into what he calls “regenerative change”. The mission: build cultures that are not just high-performing, but also humane, sustainable, and rooted in purpose.
“To those just starting: don’t be afraid to explore, expand, and evolve,” he said. “Growth is rarely linear. Sometimes the most fulfilling career moves aren’t upward—but outward.”
For Roy, it’s not about abandoning your foundation—it’s about using it as a launchpad. His journey shows that even a background in accounting can lead to a career in transformation, as long as you’re willing to follow your curiosity and lean into reinvention.
“Your purpose will always find you,” he added, “if you stay open and brave enough to follow where it leads.”
