Forget Bossing People Around—This Is How Real Leaders Earn Respect

For Zorayda “Dada” Rosanes, Associate Financial Planner and Executive Vice Chairman at International Marketing Group (IMG), leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about action.

In an interview with Financial Adviser PH, Dada shared the cornerstone of her leadership philosophy: walking the talk.

“I don’t just tell them to do—but I show how it is being done,” she said. “I strive to embody the values I expect from my teammates.”

Dada has spent nearly two decades building leaders within IMG. Along the way, she’s learned that the most effective way to lead isn’t through directives—but through demonstration. Whether she’s guiding new recruits or mentoring seasoned team members, her goal is to model excellence, consistency, and grit.

This hands-on approach stems from her belief that leadership is more about influence than instruction. “Leadership is all about fostering trust, inspiring growth, and creating an environment where every individual feels valued,” she explained.

That means empowering people to own their goals, but also being present enough to guide them through challenges. “Empowerment comes from equipping team members with knowledge and tools,” she added, “and guiding them to make informed decisions and take ownership of their success.”

For Dada, one of the most underrated leadership tools is simple, open communication. “It is important to make them feel that they can tell me or ask me about anything,” she emphasized. In a culture where hierarchy can often create barriers, her leadership style encourages transparency and shared growth.

She also believes in the power of connection—especially during setbacks or plateaus. Her team practices identifying their personal motivations, what she calls their “Top 10 WHYs.” When momentum dips, she reminds them of their deeper purpose.

Leading by example, to Dada, is more than a principle—it’s a system of trust, inspiration, and consistency that helps leaders build leaders.

“People won’t always remember what you told them,” she said. “But they will remember what you showed them.”

In a world full of noise, her leadership cuts through—quietly, clearly, and effectively.
