Behind the Scenes of AI Regulation: The Work You Never See

Noemi Dado of the Times has shared our work in AI regulation, let me tell you why this matters now.

Reading her article felt different. It felt honest. She saw the work behind the scenes, the kind that does not get attention but shapes real change.

She understood that this effort is not about trends. It is about building something that fits the Philippines. That alone is important. Because policy reform is not easy. It is not quick. And it is not something you can capture in a short post or a viral video.

Most people see the public side. The talks. The panels. The headlines. But that is only a small part of it. The real work happens in long meetings. In careful reading. In asking hard questions. In choosing what matters most when not everything can be solved at once.

    This is a long game.

And in this space, you start to see two kinds of people. There are those who talk about change. And there are those who walk the uphill climb. The second group is smaller. They stay even when it is hard. They keep working even when there is no spotlight. They understand that real change takes time. That is the path we are on.

We are trying to build AI rules that protect Filipinos. Not just in theory, but in real life. That means thinking about workers who may lose jobs. It means making sure systems understand our language. It means putting people at the center of every decision. Because the risks are real.

If we rush or ignore the gaps, people will be left behind. If we wait too long, we lose the chance to guide what comes next. AI is already here. The choices are already being made. So this moment matters.

That is why Noemi’s article matters. It brings attention to the work, but more than that, it shows that someone is paying close attention. It shows that this effort is worth understanding. And for that, I am thankful.

I am thankful to everyone who has supported this work. To those who took the time to listen. To those who helped shape ideas. To those who believed that this is worth doing. This is bigger than any one person.

This is about the future of AI in the Philippines. It is about making sure that as technology grows, it does not leave people behind. We still have a long way to go.

But we are moving forward. Slowly, carefully, and with purpose.

That is how real change happens.
