Condo living in Metro Manila offers more than just a place to sleep—it comes with built-in perks that many residents overlook. According to Registered Financial Planner (RFP) Fitz Villafuerte, these underutilized amenities can help residents save big on lifestyle expenses.
“You can also take advantage of public areas such as the condo lobby, cafeteria, and condo function rooms, for activities such as casual business meetings or hanging out with friends,” Fitz shared in an exclusive interview with Financial Adviser PH.
While some condo owners pay monthly dues and barely use the facilities they’re funding, Fitz believes these spaces are powerful money-saving tools. Many condominiums include fitness centers, lounges, co-working spots, and event rooms—all maintained by the property and free to use by residents.
Why pay for a gym membership or rent a co-working desk when those options are already part of your monthly dues?
Fitz points out that these facilities can serve multiple purposes—from replacing your weekend café work session to hosting a small business meetup. Instead of heading to a coffee shop and spending hundreds on drinks and Wi-Fi, you can schedule your meeting in the function room or work from the condo’s common lounge area.
It’s not just the shared spaces that can save you money. Location matters too.
“Condominium properties are rarely isolated from commercial establishments. So, there’s usually a convenience store, supermarket, coffee shop, and restaurants located inside or around a condominium project,” Fitz explained.
He suggests that instead of spending on transportation—whether that’s fuel, parking fees, or booking a Grab—residents should make the most of what’s within walking distance. Many buildings are surrounded by essential shops and services, making it easier to stick to a budget while enjoying everyday convenience.
The savings may seem small on a per-day basis, but over time, they add up. By using what’s already available and rethinking how you approach everyday errands, meetings, and workouts, you’re not just saving money—you’re maximizing the value of your condo lifestyle.
“You can also take advantage of public areas such as the condo lobby, cafeteria, and condo function rooms, for activities such as casual business meetings or hanging out with friends,” Fitz reiterated.
If you’re living in a condo, take a fresh look at your building and its surroundings. You might just find your gym, your favorite café, and your office—without ever needing to leave the property.
