Why This Former Finance Executive Left Her Job to Teach Filipinos How to Trade with Discipline

After 15 years in corporate finance—including a senior role at a San Miguel Corporation subsidiary—Janeth Aclera walked away from the predictable to chase something riskier: the markets.

“I wasn’t planning to leave,” she says. “But the more I studied the charts, the more I realized—this is what I want to do full-time.”

Today, Aclera is a Certified Technical Analyst, a fund manager, and the co-founder of Pinoys in Profit (PIP), an education platform helping Filipinos learn how to trade with discipline and confidence.

No flashy shortcuts—just charts, grit, and consistency

Her trading journey started humbly. She wasn’t a finance bro or a former hedge fund analyst. She was a numbers-driven manager who got curious—and then obsessed—with market behavior.

“I started with the Philippine Stock Exchange as a long-term investor,” she tells Financial Adviser PH. “But once I entered the world of forex and commodities, I knew I had to level up.”

She dove deep into technical analysis—reading price action, analyzing sentiment, and testing strategies on weekends. No paid signal groups, no gurus—just years of self-study and practice.

“Technical analysis fundamentally shaped the way I think. It made me more disciplined, more strategic.”

    From analyst to mentor

As her trades became more consistent, people started asking questions. That led to coaching. Then, to launching a full-blown trading education platform.

“Honestly, I didn’t plan to build a community,” Janeth says. “But I saw how many Filipinos wanted to trade—but didn’t know where to start.”

So she co-founded Pinoys in Profit (PIP), now one of the most practical communities for aspiring Filipino traders. She’s trained over 50 students so far—many of them now trading independently with more confidence, less guesswork.

Her method is no-BS: no hype, no guaranteed wins—just real lessons on risk management, price action, and how to survive bad trades without blowing up your account.

“Leadership isn’t about showing off profits—it’s about teaching discipline.”

    Real credentials. Real market experience.

Janeth isn’t just a coach—she’s also a Certified Technical Analyst (CTA) through the Society of Technical Analysts of the Philippines, a prop trader, and a fund manager for forex and commodities portfolios.

“Getting the CTA wasn’t about the title,” she says. “It forced me to refine everything I thought I knew.”

Unlike some coaches who teach but don’t trade, Janeth is still in the trenches—analyzing charts, adjusting positions, and journaling trades like a student.

That hands-on perspective makes her lessons hit harder. She’s teaching from experience—not a playbook.

What she tells every new trader

Her top advice? Forget the get-rich-quick mindset.

“Start small. Build your system. Track everything. Trading is a craft—it takes time.”

She tells students to focus on process over profits, and to get comfortable with discomfort.

“Your real edge is in how you manage yourself—your emotions, your mindset, your decisions under pressure.”

It’s the same edge that helped her lead teams in corporate—and now helps her lead traders toward more informed, consistent strategies.

Why she’s still in the game

    For Janeth, this isn’t just a hustle—it’s a mission.

“There are so many brilliant Filipinos who can trade, if only they had the right guidance. That’s why I built PIP.”

She continues to update her frameworks, learn from the community, and pass on everything she’s learned—mistakes included.

“I’ve had losing streaks. I’ve had wins I didn’t deserve. But I journaled every trade. I learned. I kept going.”

And she wants her students to do the same.

“Trading isn’t about getting it right every time—it’s about showing up, staying sharp, and never stopping the grind.”
